Ruby : The Stone of Wealth & Prosperity

Known for its deep red color Ruby is the July Birthstone. It is believed to inspire its wearer to be confident and take on every challenge life throws their way. Additionally ruby is said to promote positive dreams and decrease anxiety.

Rubies and sapphire are actually the same stone, with Ruby being the only color of corundum to not be called sapphire. Rubies come in a variety of shades of red ranging from Pigeon Blood to Pinkish. Once corundum is fully pink it is considered a pink sapphire.  In addition to being July’s Birthstone, it is also the traditional gift for a 15th or 40th wedding anniversary.

Elizabeth Taylor was given a set of spectacular ruby jewelry by  Mike Todd, in 1957 from Cartier.

Queen Elizabeth II has a crown of 96 rubies. The rubies were gifted to her on her wedding by the people of Burma.
